innovating with new forms for sci-fi literature
Fish Ladder in collaboration with Allegro and the renowned Polish sci-fi writer Jacek Dukaj experimented with a new type of literary experience.
We used the new sci-fi novel by writer Jacek Dukaj to become the first digital-only literary product accompanied by immersive story and visual interactions.
The e-book has more than 180 “pop-up” footnotes, including illustrations of machines strolling through post-apocalyptic landscapes and additional side-stories imagined by the author.
For this project, our objective was not only to create an engaging set of additional features complementing the book, but to change the way we immerse ourselves in literary experiences and distribute novel content.
Our visuals were informed and designed by Alex Jaeger, creative director and co-producer of Transformers 3, Pacific Rim, Avengers and Star Trek films.
Our idea (and execution) turned out to be an immediate success. In the first month alone we were able to sell over 13 000 e-books.
